The IPW and the CTSI CCAS Scheme… what is it?
The word ‘scheme’ comes with its own connotations in my book, not always good I have to say. This is why I thought it would be worthwhile (albeit a bit long winded) to explain what all of this is about, you will then see why we, as IPW members, are very proud to be a part of it. It is all about transparency and excelling at what we do.
The IPW (Institute of Professional Willwriters) is a national members organisation of trained and qualified professionals advising clients on Will-writing and Inheritance planning.
The CTSI (Chartered Trading Standards Institute) represents trading standards professionals working in the UK and overseas – in local authorities, business and consumer sectors and central government; so quite renowned.
The CCAS scheme (Consumer Codes Approval Scheme) is endorsed by the CTSI and exists to promote and protect the success of a modern vibrant economy, and safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of the public by elevating the professionalism of its members (like the IPW) and therefore the IPW’s own professional members.
IPW members operate their businesses within the confines of a strict Code of Practice, this code is approved externally by the CTSI as it meets the criteria set by CCAS so what it is saying is you can rely on an IPW member to help with your own succession planning.
An IPW member can only display the CCAS logo if they belong to an approved Code Sponsor, such as the IPW. Also, the CCAS logo can only appear next to the Code Sponsor logo, not the individual business logo. The consumer can therefore see that the business is aligned with both the IPW and CTSI CCAS scheme.
Displaying the CCAS logo says that consumers can trust your business, it is a reassurance of your higher level of customer service and consumer protection. Being part of CCAS means you have a robust customer complaints procedure and clear pre-contractual information, i.e. terms of engagement.
Willwriting can be a sector where customers are deemed to be vulnerable. Businesses who belong to the IPW and are part of the CCAS show they care about their customers and offer reassurance during which may be a rather difficult time. Look out for the logo and know that when you see it, you’ll know that you can trust that business.
Not every business has this unique selling point. Needless to say if you would like any help or advice with your Inheritance Planning you can contact us here.
